An attempt to enhance the accountability of the new London mayoralty

Shome Mistak Surely?

June 2nd, 2008 by Tom

In the text of an otherwise uncontroversial TfL press release:

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said: ‘Most young people behave themselves on the buses, but it is important that those who don’t realise that free travel is a privelege that has been paid for and is not their automatic right regardless of their actions.

Tut.  Surely with an Eton and Oxford education and a working life spent at the moneyed end of the right-wing press the man should know how to spell ‘privilege’.  Unless, and I know this may come as a shock, he doesn’t actually sit down and write these himself.

Of course, the anti-social behavour and security obsession is still going strong there, too.  It’s getting rather tiresome.

Oh come on, you can do better than this. An office minkey forgets to use spellcheck and Mayor Boris talks about something which was more or less his platform for getting in to office.

I’m all for the blair and boris watches of this world enhancing accountability, but petty sniping?

Keep up the *good* work and you won’t come across as crying wolf.
