The London Borough of Hounslow, where I live, is a pretty peaceful area, generally - low down on the murder list, occasional property crime in the richer areas. It thus came as no surprise when a local Conservative councillor posted this on our local web forum:

Good news about David Cameron’s bike:
He was at a Tesco branch on Portobello Road when the bike - which he joked was “an old friend” - disappeared.
…
“It’s priceless to me. I’ve done over a thousand miles on it and three sponsored bike rides of 250 miles each, so it’s like an old friend. It’s fantastic.”
