I’ve got the full papers in front of me now. Unfortunately they’re as thick as my wrist so it’s going to take some time.

Speaking from the point of view of family friends of Nina Bawden, I rather agree with you. It’s not exactly to the Conservatives’ credit that he’s is clearly the best qualified Tory for the job, but it reflects the importance they’ve attached to public transport since, well, Ernest Marples and his road-building business friends.
Livingstone sacked him over the conflict of interest with Jarvis and Tube Lines. Something to remember when TL ask for more cash…
