A couple of weeks ago Lynne Featherstone called the fire brigade after her boiler gave out a noise “a bit like a pneumatic drill / burglar alarm – but worse“. Curiously, this has sent Brian Coleman – noted royalist, taxi connoisseur and chairman of London’s fire authority – into a rage…

“She has shown herself to be completely dizzy…She advertised the fact she is dizzy on her blog, which is even more stupid.”

However, a source at the London Fire Brigade told the Fail that the Liberal Democrat MP had acted correctly in calling them. So why was Coleman so het up?

Could it be because Mrs Featherstone has previously castigated his “snobbish, rude, and ill-informed” public statements?

  1. Aw, c’mon!

    You can’t be serious!

He says she is “dizzy” and an “airhead”. She says he’s a fool and “an idiot”. And, of course, for once, both are absolutely correct.

Step back and enjoy the show.

  2. BenSix says:

Ach, I like Lynne Featherstone (though, admittedly, I don’t live under her sweeping rule).
Still, I am enjoying the show. Popcorn?

  3. with respect it is hardly rocket science to turn a boiler off if its making a nasty noise.

is there a way to turn boris off?

  4. He sounds just like one of those windbags you can find in any town or county hall up and down the country who never, ever forget a sleight. Never turn your back on him, Lynne!

  5. Featherbrain says:

OMG, I’ve just noticed the bathwater gurgles when it goes down the plug hole! Should I call the fire brigade? Lynne, please advise!!

  6. OHOC says:

So the London Fire Brigade says that if your boiler starts suddenly making violent noises you should call 999 and the response of commentators is to screw the experts, let’s make fun of her.

The internet: A new form of democracy that is slightly more knackered than the one we live in.

Brian Coleman is an ass, as we all should have worked out some time ago.

  7. Finchley fruitcake says:

Yes I remember under his watch at Barnet the roads became gridlocked when they forgot to send the gritters out one January despite severe warnings

  8. The Fire Brigade Union’s regional secretary for London, Joe MacVeigh, said, “Councillor Coleman needs to decide whether he wants to be a serious political figure or whether he wants to continue playing the role of complete buffoon. He holds a position of enormous responsibility, and he should be dignified and statesmanlike in everything he does. Instead, he blunders around, whipping up controversy, and trying to draw attention to himself at every opportunity. Such an attitude does not befit the office of head of the world’s third largest fire and rescue service. His remarks about [Lynne Featherstone] were disgraceful. If an ordinary firefighter had said such a thing to a female colleague, he would almost certainly have been facing disciplinary action.”

Brian Coleman (aka Mr Toad) has GOT to go!:
