At a recent evening symposium with the hairsplitters convention (aka an evening in the pub with Dave Hill, Tory Troll, Martin from Mayorwatch, Dave Cole and most of the Boriswatch crew) Martin, Adam and I discussed what we’d talk about to the Progressive London conference in January.  None of us had much of a clue.

However, bountiful providence provides, and this post from Guido-In-An-Anorak blog ‘Railway Eye’ shows exactly how political blogging can cover matters of public interest in unexpected ways – in this case a row between the former Rail Minister and blogger Tom Harris MP and the leading professional railway journalist Roger Ford.  The row concerns matters of genuine interest (who really runs Britain’s railways and the large amounts of public money they absorb), involves people with actual relevance to the policy area involved and will be completely invisible in the mainstream media, who are persisting with the narrative that Britain’s railways are clapped out and unreliable, and missing obvious things.

* I like unexpected, it stops people having too much control.
