Munira Mirza, London’s pet Stalinist ideologically driven obsessive monoculturalist zealot, would appear to be behind this latest attack on perfectly inoffensive (and free to enter) aspects of modern society – it bears all her hallmarks, particularly being complete nonsense – how is refusing to enter a free competition demonstrating a new way of ‘bringing Londoners’ together? What Londoners, for that matter, are sundered from the mainstream by the GLA entering the Stonewall index? Homophobes, religious nuts and Nazis, I reckon, and I’m sufficiently optimistic to assume that they’re a very small minority of Londoners. I do wonder quite how far you can go in London by deliberately pissing off everyone except white, male, Sun-reading heterosexuals with a high tolerance for political incompetents; surely that’s just bad electoral tactics, but then that’s Communists for you, and I’m not sure they really got the idea of representative democracy. Oh, and read the heated debate in the comments, particularly the suggestion that the real reason might be a reversal of whatever internal GLA policies led to high rankings in the index in past years.
The thought occurs that I bet old Sheikh Qaradawi would approve of this sort of thing. Big on the gay-bashing, him.
