I snuck out for the first public run of the S-Stock this morning.  Here are some pictures.  First impressions of the new air-conditioned Underground trains later.

Conforms to all the latest trends.
No doubt technically advanced, but for the passenger the pits.
This slide towards lousy seating issimply typical of the contempt with which we are held by train operators.
I refuse to believe that passengers will be honestly happy with these trains.

The new tubes should on the Central and piccadilly line first.

Obviously the old trains have to be replaced. but it’s curious how many of the first passengers to benefit from these new trains don’t live in London.

Do Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire contribute any money to the Met’s upkeep, or does the revenue for that bit all come from fares (and London)?

ahh Londoners are finally relieved from Heat waves

Sad to see the customer in last place again

Stripping out seats for standing room is basically very silly on these lines. Long distance travel on the Metropolitan (and later District Lines) means that seats are a necessity not a luxury.

How can anyone let TFL know – they seem to live in a land of their own
