Obviously, nasty old Ken didn’t really take the Routemaster off the streets, there are two routes left – the 9H and 15H heritage routes.  They’ve just been retendered and, despite the financial squeeze on TfL, low passenger numbers and the excessive cost per km of running two small routes with ancient, low capacity two crew double deckers they’ve been re-awarded to the existing operators.  Fancy that.

Tranche 329

  • 9H – re-awarded to First London West with Heritage Routemaster, PVR 5
  • 15H – re-awarded to East London with Heritage Routemaster, PVR 5

The Routemaster would finally become non-compliant with disability legislation in seven years time, roughly when this contract would end.
