After our previous stories on the 17th and 21st June about the No2Ken astroturf started garnering some attention, Tim Ireland, who is so famous in Tory online circles that I was being asked paranoid questions about him back in 2006, blogged the story on the 23rd.  Now, the figures for @No2Ken tweets per day look like this:

  • 11/6 – 9
  • 12/6 – 5
  • 13/6 – 1
  • 14/6 – 11
  • 15/6 – 15
  • 16/6 – 11
  • 17/6 – 5 (first story)
  • 18/6 – 5
  • 19/6 – 4
  • 20/6 – 2
  • 21/6 – 3 (second story)
  • 22/6 – 0
  • 23/6 – 2 (Tim’s story)
  • 24/6 – 0
  • 25/6 – 0
  • 26/6 – 0
  • 27/6 – 0
  • 28/6 – 18

Whoever was behind No2Ken does seem to have taken a confidence knock after our original story followed by stopping completely on Tim’s piece coming out.  Tonight, however, we get a 1000-bomber raid with 18 retweets in 23 minutes.  On querying this, not least because one of the No2Ken retweets was from the BNP-lite fascists at the EDL, Einy now claims someone else is doing the No2Ken tweeting and we should leave her alone.  This actually sort of rings true – the posting pattern suggests a big change this evening, which is possibly someone else taking over who hasn’t been found out yet.

Unfortunately, even if Einy is not involved any more, this implies that it wasn’t her acting alone and there must be someone else involved, which makes it a conspiracy rather than just an idiocy.  Since we’ve discovered that she indeed works at the House of Commons in the office of Boris’s brother Jo Johnson, it might be time to test that famous commitment to openness and accountability with a well-phrase, polite enquiry.

Update: Helen suggests examining the Twitter clients in use:

  • Einy uses Echofon
  • No2Ken uses Echofon

Doesn’t prove much either way, really.
